EU AI Act Foundations

Welcome to EU AI Act Foundations, the entry programme in the SAAII EU AI Act pillar.

By the end of this programme you will be able to read the EU AI Act critically, classify an AI system under its risk tiers, identify the obligations that follow, and prepare a defensible internal position on a specific AI use case — all evidenced through a full 2,500-word applied written assessment marked by a named human examiner against our published rubric.

Structure

• 8 modules, each with 2–4 substantive lessons and an end-of-module quiz.
• 32 CPD hours, delivered over a self-paced 6–8 week window.
• One summative assessment at the end — a 2,500-word compliance memo on a defined scenario, marked against the four-dimension rubric.
• Pass at 60, distinction at 75. Two resits available at £95 each.

How to work through the programme

Each module is designed as approximately four hours of study. We recommend working through one or two modules per week; most learners complete the programme in six to eight weeks alongside a normal working schedule.

End-of-module quizzes are formative — they help you check your understanding and don’t count toward the final grade. The summative assessment at the end is the marked piece.

What you’ll need

A working copy of the EU AI Act (we link to Eur-Lex versions throughout). No prior AI or legal background required. Approximately four hours of study per module.
